Training in an Academy displaced by war

27.01.2020 08:30

Andrés Carrasco, who worked for 13 years at La Masia, Barcelona FC Academy, opened up with us during this year's CEE Cup and discussed his current engagement with Shakhtar Donetsk. The Ukrainian Grand Club was forced to relocate its team from the Donbass region to Shastlyev, near Kiev, due to their home being affected by the fightings.

"The situation became very difficult because of the conflict. We had a gap of about two or three years just after the start of the fighting", says the Catalan coach, "during which the club lost many opportunities to attract new, better players to our youth teams who could then move to the A-team", he reveals.

To learn more about his experience, just watch the video interview he gave during the 2019 CEE Cup.
