Group B preview

22.07.2019 08:15

Group B, the second group of the CEE Cup 2019 edition, will see the locals of Slavia Prague facing off against the likes of Altinordu, from Turkey, the English from Burnley, and last year’s winners of the final, the Brazilian Palmeiras.

Slavia, a team comprised of U17 vice-champions players such as Tomas Hajek, Adam Toula, Frantisek Matys, Lukas Hronik, and Stepan Stary, just to name a few, will obviously do its best to get far in the competition and make their fans proud.

After missing out on last year’s CEE Cup, Altinordu return once again to showcase their football. Though their first team only plays in the second tier league, their academy is very successful, their team having played in the Youth League twice. To top that off, one of their players, winger Altar Han Hidayetoglu, is on the CEE Cup’s list of players to keep an eye out for.

Also Burnley are making their return to the tournament; the last time out they reached the final against Everton. Burnley has established itself as the most upwardly-mobile academy in English football, and they will soon start taking part in the youth Premier League.

Last, but in no way the least, are Palmeiras. The Brazilians return with the aim of defending the title they brought home last year. The Palmeiras academy is world famous and highly successful, having produced many Brazilian stars over the course of their history. Perhaps their most notable player this year is the striker Fabricio.

Each team in Group B, just like Group A, will play against each other once. The matches will see a total of 80 minutes of total play time, with two 40 minute halves. The group winner will access the final directly, whereas the other teams will finish by playing ranking games.
