Best moments of GCC 2015: Six goals in half? For FK Sarajevo not a problem

30.09.2015 14:00

In the our next episode we will take a look at the offensive skills of FK Sarajevo, who like every year belonged to the best teams of the tournament and finished fourth. The team from Bosnia and Herzegovina scored 12 times in four games, averaging three goals per game.

After their long journey to Prague, the team had a slow start in the first game against Slavia Praha, but managed to win 1-0.

Their best performance came in the second half of the game against Wisla Krakow. The Polish club led 3-1 in the first half and made it look like it was over. However, Sarajevo’s Hamza Čatakovič four-goal argument and a total of six scores in the second half proved everyone wrong. Sarajevo’s heroic comeback change sent the Bosnian team to the semifinals. The four goals helped Čatakovič win the Puma Best Scorer Award of the tournament.

In the semifinal with AC Sparta Prague, regular time was not enough to decide about the winner and we witnessed a penalty shootout. It was only Čatakovič who successfully found the net, which was not enough.

After the third place game and sort of a Balkan rivalry game with Academy Pandev, Sarajevo finished fourth. Besides the tournament’s best player Hamza Čatakovič, it fits to highlight another key player, Elvedin Herič, who was a big offensive threat for Sarajevo’s opponents. The Bosnian team has once again played excited offensive football that entertained many fans.

Let’s hope we will see more from them next year.
